John, start a blog.

John,

I believe I speak on behalf of all of us when I say...

Start your blog. ACTUALLY start a wiki and a blog. I want a place we can log on to and start dicussing the bar. I want to start designing this bar by comittee - the first bar of its kind, where anyone can log on and post their comments, add their opinions, and add crude and offensive jokes - usually at the expensive of one of our friends, and more than likely by one of our friends.

Damn it - I want a project to provide some thought-leadership to. We've all got big plans for this bar man - those Pro Evo tournaments aren't going to throw themselves. The sooner we get the ball rolling, the more likely it is that we'll have a bar by the summer...

Dont those endless ramblings deserve a home?

I think they do....

Now. Step one - go to blogger and create yourself a blog. I've checked the following, and they're available:

* UntitledBarProject
* Bar-By-Committee
* JohnsBar
* JohnSmells
* (with all due respect) JaitIsGay
* (with all due respect) Jait-Is-Gay
* (with all due respect) JaitsGay

HAHA sorry got sidetracked....

The location has to be ShoHo:

'It's been about 10 years since the Bricklayers Arms (info) and the Blue Note (now Bluu - info) began to attract young scallywags away from the bars and clubs of Soho and Islington, and though the crowd has become slightly more mainstream, it is still a world away from the anodyne tosh that one encounters all too often in the West End.'

Damn that anodyne west end tosh....damn it to heck. no - damn it to heck and back - then damn it to heck again.

'Given a choice, I would work ONLY on projects that followed the Hollywood Model, where people come together with their respective skills and talents, and DO something. Make a web app. Create a book. Build a game. Develop and deliver learning experiences. The happiest moments of my work life were on projects where we pulled all-nighters because we wanted to, not because the corporate culture said we weren't a true team-player/trooper if we didn't.'

Don't ask employees to be passionate about the company! (Creating Passionate Users)

What a great day of doing absolutely nothing. Got to love snow days including spending the morning helping the local kids build one huge snowman, who all got the day off school lucky little bastards whereas I will probably have to use a sick day or personal day. Since I have spent countless hours today doing nothing constructive I figure I might as well carry on the way I started and leave yet another pointless ramble that someone other than Neil will read (thanks Seema and Sadna). Plus I figured that since I have watched Ghostbusters 2 for the second time today on sky movies, I could quite possibly have reached a new low for time wasting and needed to archive this moment for future reference, should a day with a more abject view on the term “living life to the full” arise.

The bar blog is a great idea Neil. I think that it can only be good to get the bar idea out there for people to check out. Plus if interest is generated it can only help get more funding and investment into it. We have to get it going and time already feels like it is wasting away to make 2007 a better year. Do think the title biggayjait is still available?

There was a great line in Ghostbusters 2. I think it says it all about city life.

“Being miserable and treating people like dirt is every New Yorkers god-given right”

Since I know how everyone (yes all three of you) love my views and comments on modern society I figure I will elaborate on this. Growing up the feeling that I got was democracy is the greater good and gives everyone the chance to maximize their potential. But take a look around and all I see is a miserable population struggling to get by and true happiness is a feeling that most people don’t feel the moment they get real responsibilities. Now, I am not one of those people that think communism was the best idea but you cannot fault the principles behind it, but seriously is democracy really that great? Instead of robbing us of choice it just brings out the worst traits in a human being is this not just the lesser of two evils I find myself asking? The staunchest supporters of Democracy are usually the ones who are running it. Democracy has made the money hungry society created in the world today. To make more money it seems to me like it has become socially acceptable by all of us to treat people like dirt to do it and how is that ever a good thing, whatever happened to love they neighbour? If the definition of being successful in a democratic society is being another corporate goon in another multi-national company, which specializes in the needless oversupply of yet another product then I really couldn’t care less about success. Well that is my deep and meaningful thought for the day. I could go on and on about this subject but the bottom line is do I really actually care about this or do I only care because I am not in a “successful” position. Will the problems I perceive with society dissipate the moment I have enough money to not have to care anymore, I wonder. There has been many a satirical moment over the years where the previously incorruptible, quickly changed their opinions once the shoe was on the other foot. Do I really want to find out?

Whilst I make pointless views on society and whether being rich and having a fulfilling life are the same thing, I think I am losing track of what really matters, Jait is gay and Neil smells. Ahhh the simple joys in life. Those are magic words right there you should all try it, quite therapeutic anytime you feel stressed out not that I do right now considering I have had the day off. God bless the weather.

Ummm what else do I feel like I have to say……………………..

“Shake and bake”

Sorry I watched Talledega nights on DVD this morning, we could name the bar that. Our tagline could be:

“If you feeling a distinct lack of a pretentious atmosphere and five pound beers, its not cause you left the Mayfair area, it’s cause you just had a little a bit of shake and bake” (similar hand gestures from the movie necessary).

Man, Will Ferrell should be president and the frat pack his cabinet, in fact that should be his next movie, hmmmm I feel a movie script coming on. Damn am I going to busy with starting bars, writing the premise for the, afore mentioned TV show (see previous blog) and soon to be box office hit movie. Better appreciate an inconsequential day such as this then, oh my god a Dirty Harry film is on, this rant is over, it could only get better if “Every which way you can” was on, since it’s a fact that everybody loves monkeys or orangutan in this case. I digress…….once again.

That's some interesting reading. Loved the antidisestablishmentarianism - you're right when you say democracys biggest advocates are those in power. You could say the same thing about communism too - and capitalism. I wonder - if we had a general referendum today, and people could vote whether our government leaned towards socialist or statist, what they would chose. I mean a real choice, without any prior bias. Communism would end up being a good option, sometimes its the things we take for granted that actually add to our feverish need for more from life. Like God, or self-realisation, or motivation. Or more importantly, a bar. John sort it out - we need some meaning in our lives!
